You will be a member of a small team of Microsoft SQL Server DBAs. Your initial focus will be on providing direct assistance to a multifarious team of developers who work on different components of a hosted web application. You must be focused yet diplomatic. You must be flexible. You must be available to meet in person with other members of the company on demand. Your duties will include T-SQL development and tuning, as well as configuration, monitoring, administration, and troubleshooting of the database platform. You will help ensure availability, integrity, and reliability of the database platform. You will analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks. You will periodically be on-call, on a rotation with the rest of the team. You will use existing vendor tools, existing company tools, and tools you bring to the company. You will need to document and share your insights and toolkit with others in the database administration group, and Systems Engineering management. You will contribute to maintenance, including vendor updates and patches, and database-specific platform needs. To be successful, you will need to coordinate and communicate with your team, your upwards reporting structures, vendors, consultants, developers, and partners. As business needs change, you may be required to learn new technologies, or to otherwise adapt to a changing landscape. You must be able to provide your own transportation to the data centers (multiple locations around the Denver area) when required.
