The Problem

The client, a multinational computer and electronics manufacturer, found itself facing an antitrust suit claiming unfair competition brought by a number of the company's resellers.

With depositions looming, the court ordered our client to review and produce more than 60,000 documents in less than 72 hours. The problem was that the files had only been recovered just before the hearing. It seemed there would be no way to meet the deadline.

The Solution

The client turned to Catalyst for assistance. Catalyst CR offered the potential to get the job done, even though time was tight.

The client sent the data for loading at 6:00 PM on a Friday evening. Due to the sensitive nature of the documents, the client sent files encrypted via secure FTP. Catalyst technicians, decrypted, prepared and loaded the data by 10:30 PM on Friday.

The client's outside counsel assembled a group of 12 associates to begin the review on Saturday morning. Using Catalyst's dynamic folders for multi-level review workflow, the review team conducted their first pass and QC review rapidly.

When the review was completed at 6:00PM on Sunday, Catalyst's production technicians were able to create the production file and load it to the client's secure FTP location by 5:30 AM on Monday.

Catalyst was able to help the client meet its tight deadline. Because the client uses Catalyst for all its cases, we were able to take advantage of past experience to speed up initial processing. Because the review team was familiar with Catalyst, they could review documents quickly and complete a workflow involving first and second pass and QC.
