A few weeks ago, I found myself in the reception area of a large law firm. (We'll leave out the name to protect the innocent.) After hopping cabs for most of the day, I was hoping to find an open computer to check e-mail before my meeting. So I asked the receptionist if there was a guest computer, or an open Cat-5 connection that I could use to access my e-mail account. (No, I don't carry a BlackBerry.)
