In December, 2006, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), which govern civil law processes in the United States, were amended for the tenth time since their inception in 1938. One of the amendments, Rule 26(a)(1)(B), states that organizations must be able to identify, by category and location, electronically stored information that it may use to 'support or defend claims.'
