Recent federal cases teach a hard lesson: failure to use sampling during e-discovery review and production is imprudent at best, grounds for severe sanctions at worst. Done right, sampling protects against inadvertent disclosure, strengthens defensibility and helps control costs. About the Speakers
John Tredennick: Prior to founding Catalyst, John Tredennick was a nationally known trial lawyer and litigation partner with Holland & Hart. Active in the American Bar Association, Tredennick was chair of the Law Practice Management Section and served as editor-in-chief of Law Practice Management magazine, which reached over 20,000 readers around the world. He also founded and for many years edited the ABA's successful Web magazines, Law Practice Today and Law Technology Today.
He has written and edited five best-selling books and countless articles on litigation and technology issues. In the past decade, he was named one of the "Top 100 Global Technology Leaders" by London's CityTech magazine. He has also served as a member of the faculty at the University of Virginia Law School where he teaches a course called "Electronic Discovery in a Global Environment.
Tom Turner: The President and founding partner of Document Solutions Inc. (DSi) in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1992 with a degree in business and economics and began his career in the litigation support industry in 1994 with start up company Premier Legal. Tom has worked in the practice of e-discovery since 2001 when DSi was awarded a case involving a SEC investigation of a fortune 500 company. This case involved the processing and management of over 7 million pages of emails and 1800 boxes of paper documents. Since that time he has worked on hundreds of cases involving e-discovery including a D.O.J. investigation involving over 40 million pages of emails and electronic documents. Tom was a founding partner in Paragon Legal Technology Group where he served as Chief Technology Officer and currently serves on the board of the Nashville chapter of the Entrepreneur Organization. He is a Summation certified trainer and has extensive experience in multiple various document review platforms.
